SEA Project Two

the need

The public school system of Nicaragua has struggled to meet the needs of its citizens for several decades. Due to a history of socio-political unrest and a lack of funding and oversight, learning institutions are often inadequate, corrupt, and in desperate need of improvement.

Seeking what is best for their children's futures, many parents rely on private academies near their homes for educational opportunities. Because of the violent situation that the country has suffered in recent years, families are also choosing to only enroll their children in morning classes so they can safely return home each day. These unique circumstances have placed a great strain on the education of many Nicaraguans.

the opportunity

SEA is partnering with an established academy in the city of Managua, to enlarge their facilities and increase the educational opportunities they provide in their community.

Currently, their building is limited by the number of equipped classrooms they have, and can not accommodate the demand of students who would like to attend. The proposed expansion will include seven additional classrooms dedicated to grades 5-11, one classroom for computer training, and one multipurpose room. The project also includes updates to the sanitary systems of the building, and the hiring of additional faculty and staff.

Through our financial loan, we hope many young lives can fulfill their creative and educational dreams in the city.
